HJM is pleased to announce that Thomas R. Tompsett, Jr. has joined the HJM team as an attorney and registered lobbyist. After three legislative sessions working with the Maryland General Assembly, he is excited to bring his diverse experience to bear as an advocate for HJM’s clients.
Prior to joining the HJM team, Mr. Tompsett served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Maryland Multi-Housing Association (MMHA), a trade association that represents the owners and managers of more than 183,000 residential rentals units throughout the State of Maryland. During his time at MMHA, Mr. Tompsett developed an intimate knowledge of the legislative processes at the state and local levels, while simultaneously building strong relationships with legislators throughout the state. In addition to his legislative efforts at MMHA, Mr. Tompsett also worked with state and local governmental agencies on a variety of issues that included housing, public works, towing, zoning, and environmental health issues.
Mr. Tompsett is also an experienced trial attorney. From 2005 to 2014, Mr. Tompsett proudly served as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he successfully litigated cases at both the District and Circuit Court levels.
