Ashley N. Clark joined HJM in 2024 as a registered lobbyist. Clark’s extensive legal and real estate professional background provides HJM with a decade of experience in government and community relations, property management, compliance, and contract review, which in turn will provide a significant contribution to successful outcomes when collaborating closely with HJM’s clients to develop policies that support their legislative objectives.
As the former Compliance and Legislative Affairs Manager at Southern Management Companies, LLC (SMC), Ashley N. Clark joined HJM in 2024 as a registered lobbyist. SMC is one of the largest privately owned residential property companies in the United States. In her role with SMC for nearly six years, Clark was responsible for fair housing, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and government relations for over 25,000 residential units and more than 1,500 team members. She represented and advocated on behalf of SMC before government officials and regulatory agencies, collaborating with trade groups and community organizations, all of which earned her a track record of creating meaningful partnerships throughout Maryland and Virginia. Clark also served on the Maryland Apartment and Office Building Association Legislative Committee and the Virginia Metropolitan Political Action Committee.
Clark holds a Juris Doctor from the Pennsylvania State University – Dickinson School of Law and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in Africana Studies from Agnes Scott College.
During her time at SMC, Clark received the “Chairman’s Award” in 2021 and the Baltimore Cluster Award in 2019. Clark was also awarded “Section Manager of the Year” in 2015 for her role as the Section Manager at the Oxon Hill Village Apartments.
